| Q.
My unlock code doesn¡¦t work (or I am receiving
a message that says I have an invalid unlock code).
A. Your unlock code is linked
to the e-mail address and name supplied during
purchasing and registration. You have to enter
all the information exactly as it is displayed
in that e-mail. If you¡¦re still having trouble,
try copying and pasting information from the e-mail
into the program. If you continue to have trouble,
please e-mail us your support information.
Q. We have changed our contact information
(e-mail address or mailing address). How do I
update my registration with this new information?
A. If you have a new e-mail or
mailing address, please e-mail
us with all of your prior contact information,
your new information, and the date you want the
new information to go into effect.
Q. What is your upgrade policy?
A. In order to protect your investment,
we allow you to upgrade free of charge to our
latest release if you have purchased the product
within three months of that release. We also provide
maintenance releases of our software at no cost
to you. (Note: Although VoyagerSoft has not charged
for upgrades in the past, we reserve the right
to do so in the future.)
You can receive your upgrade by clicking the
Download
link. (Note that even though you may see a message
saying it is the trial version, it is actually
the full version.) You just need to use your unlock
code to unlock it. If you have already unlocked
the product, you shouldn¡¦t have to unlock it again
after upgrade since the data is stored in the
system.
Q. What is included with my product license?
A. Before using our product you
agreed to abide by the terms of our product license
agreement. Our individual produce license allows
one user to install the product on two computers
as long as that user is the only user of the software.
(For example, you could install on your product
on a laptop and your home computer.)
Q. When I try to install Solid Capture, I get a message saying that I don't have
administrative privileges to install software.
Is there anything I can do?
A. Try this:
- Download either the executable or self-extracting
zip file (if any).
- Right-click the executable (.exe) file for
the program and select Run As....
- Click the Run button and complete the installation
process.
If you still cannot install the program, contact
your computer systems administrator.
Q. When I try to install the program,
I get an "Unable to load options file" message
A.You are seeing this message
because the MSXML parser either does not exist
or is not functioning on your computer. To correct
this problem:
- Download xml.zip
from our Web site.
- Unzip the file.
- Double-click msxml3sp1.exe to
install the XML parser. If you don't have a
XML parser on your machine this will install
it.
- Try running our program again.
If you still get the same error, then your XML
parser is damaged. Re-installing will NOT repair
it.
If that does not work, try this:
- Download RepairXML3.zip.
- Unzip RepairXML3.zip file and then, in Windows
Explorer, double-click the file to run it. You
should see a dialog box with the following:
"DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml3.dll
succeeded."
Q. How do I capture multiple windows
or tiered menus?
A.
If you are trying to capture multiple windows,
tiered menus, or pop-ups, you must use the hotkey
and not the toolbar to initiate the Window capture
mode. Start the Window capture mode from the hotkey
(default is CTRL+F10) to capture multiple windows.
First, set up the windows or popups you want
to capture. Then go into Window capture mode using
the hotkey. Hold down the Shift key and click
the parts you want to capture. A final click (with
no Shift key) is needed to indicate that the capture
session is complete. This final click will not
add any content to the capture session.
Q. How do I capture pop-up menus or tooltips?
A. In some instances you may
want to display a pop-up such as the following:
Usually when you capture a screen the pop-up
will not be visible:
Capturing pop-ups, including popup menus, tooltips
and mouseover states of buttons can be tricky.
If you switch to another application, even if
you open the SolidCapture toolbar, the popups
will disappear. To capture pop-ups such as tool
tips you must use the SolidCapture hotkeys, not
the toolbar.
You can choose to hide or show the cursor during
capture with a selection on the Properties screen.
Q. What does "HTML Format"
on the Edit|Paste Special menu in Microsoft Office
mean?
A. In addition to the captured
image, Solid Capture also puts an HTML Format
version on the clipboard. This allows you to directly
paste the image into more than just image editing
applications. For example, an HTML Editor like
the email editor of Outlook can accept HTML format
from the clipboard.
Q. How do I paste images into Microsoft
Word?
A. Word will use the HTML format
to paste a captured image into your document.
Use Edit|Paste Special to control which format
you want to use. You should choose Bitmap or Device
Independent Bitmap to have the same paste results
as with Print Screen.
Q. How do I update to the latest version
of Solid Capture??
A.You can simply go
to our Download page to update to the latest
version. Click the link and follow the installation
instructions.
Once you have registered the product, you do
not need to enter the unlock code again. The unlock
code from your previous version will be automatically
entered.
Q. What is PNG?
A. PNG is a relatively new graphics
file format featuring many benefits that other
Web graphics formats (such as GIF and JPG) don't
have. It is a lossless format (like GIF or BMP),
but unlike the 256 color limitation of GIF it
supports an unlimited range of colors like JPEG
(a "lossy" format). Compression ratios
are as impressive as GIF for images of UI elements
that contain large areas of solid color.
PNG is now widely accepted on the Web. For example,
it has been supported natively by both Internet
Explorer and Netscape since late 1997. (PNGs with
transparency have only been supported more recently).
For more information, see: http://www.w3.org/Graphics/PNG/
Q. Why is Solid Capture better than using
the Print Screen key?
A. With the Print Screen key you can
only capture the entire desktop or the active
window. With SolidCapture you can capture the
entire desktop, any window, or any screen area
you choose.
Plus, unlike Print Screen, Solid Capture captures
cascading menus, scrolling windows, and tooltips.
Solid Capture gives you the ease of use of the
Print Screen key, plus much more power and flexibility.
